what would happen if the plasma membrane ruptures or breaks down

 plasma membrane is on outer covering of cell which separates internal matter of a cell from external environment. Its nature is Semi permeable. If it brusts, the internal matter of the cell be mixed with the external environment.thus, selective work of the cell will be stopped leading to death of the cell
